Chuck Larson is the co-founder and executive director of Seagull Schools. He has a Bachelors Degree in Primary Education and a M.Ed. in teaching exceptional children. He is a past member of the Kailua-Waimanalo Community Education Coalition, the Honolulu County Commission on the Status of Women and the State Committee to develop new licensing regulations for infant/toddler care.
He is also a past secretary for the Polynesian Voyaging Society and served as a crew member on the Hokule'a. He currently serves as the president of the Hawaii Intergenerational Network, and is an active member of the Child Care Business Coalition. He is also active in the intergenerational field through his writings and lectures, and has previously served as a validator for preschools applying for accreditation from NAEYC.
In his position as executive director, he had oversight in designing and developing the Seagull Schools facilities at Kapolei and Ewa Beach. In May 2007 he was awarded the KOA (Kapolei Outstanding Achievement) Award for Entrepreneur of the year. He recently was appointed by Governor Linda Lingle in September 2008 to be on the Early Learning Council.
In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his family at the beach in Waimanalo where he lives, socializing with his friends and neighbors, kayaking, biking, and playing volleyball.
