Our History

Founded in 1971, Seagull Schools, a non-profit organization, is one of the state's largest childcare organizations with five centers that provide high quality care and early education to nearly 1,000 children aged 18 months to five years. All of the centers are accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC). While they schools are committed to meeting the needs of working families they are the first of all educational and because the early years are the most important learning period in life, Seagull prefers to call its centers "First Schools."

From the beginning, we have strived to meet the needs of working families with affordable fees and policies that conveniently support their busy schedules. Families and their children also benefit from an inclusive socioeconomic mix that represents the broad diversity of Hawai'i. Approximately 44% of enrolled children receive some type of tuition assistance.
